The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested one of its own officials, Aneeq, along with his father, for their involvement in the illegal issuance of blue passports to Afghan citizens during 2020, 2021, and 2022.
There has been significant progress in the FIA's investigation into the issuance of blue passports to foreigners, especially Afghans.
According to FIA sources, Aneeq, an official within the agency, had issued diplomatic blue passports to Afghan nationals, who later used these documents to travel to Turkey. The Turkish authorities reportedly recovered fake passports from these Afghan citizens, triggering an investigation.
The FIA has registered a case of terrorism against the suspect. Earlier, the agency arrested four suspects involved in the same case from the passport office, who illegally issued passports to Afghan citizens.
The FIA has stated that the illegal issuance of blue passports not only violated national security but also harmed Pakistan’s diplomatic relations. The text of the case emphasizes that these actions caused embarrassment to the country on the international stage, as the illegal use of blue passports also affected diplomatic relations.
After a thorough two-year investigation, the FIA arrested one of its own, Aneeq. Sources within the agency revealed that Aneeq had also been providing confidential information to other individuals involved in the illegal passport issuance racket.
The FIA continues to investigate the broader network behind the issuance of these fraudulent passports and the potential involvement of other officials.
