The alarming rise in drug sales in Sialkot has sparked deep concern among citizens, as the younger generation increasingly falls victim to addiction. Areas like Nikapura, Hajipura, and Shahabpura have turned into hotspots for drug dealing, with locals expressing frustration over the lack of effective police action.
Residents voiced their anger, urging IG Punjab to take immediate control of the situation. “Drugs are spreading rapidly in our community, and students are the ones paying the price. The police must step up, or IG Punjab should step down,” one resident stated, reflecting the widespread discontent.
Many citizens highlighted that the availability of drugs on the streets has become common knowledge, yet law enforcement appears unable to curb the menace.
Shopkeepers in the area have also expressed their frustration, reporting that drug dealers operate openly and unchecked, while the police have been largely ineffective.
Sialkot DPO Umar Farooq stated that police operations have intensified, leading to the arrest of 754 suspects over the past three months. He added that 625 different drugs, including hashish, ice, and heroin, have been seized. However, despite these efforts, the public remains dissatisfied with the progress.
