Princess Kate Middleton met with a sixteen-year-old girl and her family at Windsor Castle, where she reportedly held back tears during their emotional encounter.
The young girl, a talented photographer, has been bravely battling cancer, receiving heartbreaking news that she has been given between six months to three years to live.
During her latest royal engagement, Kate, who recently completed her chemotherapy treatment, put on a brave face as she connected with the young girl, whose inspiring story deeply touched her.
Commenting on the meeting, broadcaster Lewis Oakley expressed his admiration, stating, “It’s beautiful. She is back at work, but it is slightly sad as this poor girl has been given between six months and three years to live."
Oakley continued, highlighting the significance of the meeting: “It’s a really nice story. She has been able to take these pictures and meet Kate. Prince William was really inspired by her story. I think we can expect them to see more of this sort of work, profiling the great work people are doing in that cancer space.”
Suzan Holder, another commentator, shared further insights, noting that Prince William became acquainted with the girl’s story through the Air Ambulance service, to which he has a strong attachment. She reflected on the heartbreaking nature of the girl's situation while also praising Kate's return to royal duties.
Following their meeting, the Prince and Princess of Wales issued a joint statement expressing their admiration: “A pleasure to meet with Liz at Windsor today. A talented young photographer whose creativity and strength has inspired us both. Thank you for sharing your photos and story with us. W&C.”
The Princess of Wales is gradually resuming her royal responsibilities, marking a return to public life after her treatment. The official Court Circular noted her engagement, stating, "The Princess of Wales, Joint Patron, The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales, this afternoon held an Early Years Meeting at Windsor Castle."
