The Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and his wife, Sheikha Shaikha bint Saeed bin Thani Al Maktoum, have been blessed with their fourth child, a baby girl named Hind.
The royal couple welcomed their daughter on March 22, 2025. Sheikh Hamdan named his newborn Hind to honor his mother, Sheikha Hind Bint Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai.
The name ‘Hind’ holds great significance in Arab and Islamic culture, symbolizing strength, prosperity, and resilience. Historically, ‘Hind’ was also a reference to wealth and abundance, as it was used to describe a hundred camels, a sign of affluence in ancient Arabia. Additionally, in Arabic, the Indian subcontinent is known as ‘Al-Hind’, further linking the name to historical and cultural roots.
Announcing the birth of his daughter on Instagram, Sheikh Hamdan shared a heartfelt prayer: “O Allah, grant her a heart filled with Your love and a tongue that remembers You, and increase her in Your light and guidance, and clothe her in the garments of health and well-being.”
Sheikh Hamdan and Sheikha Shaikha previously welcomed twins in 2021 – a son, Rashid, and a daughter, Sheikha. In 2023, they had their third child, a son named Mohammed. With the arrival of baby Hind, their family now has four children.
Sheikh Hamdan has been serving as the Crown Prince of Dubai since 2008. He also holds key roles as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE. The son of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Sheikh Hamdan is widely admired for his leadership, poetry, and adventurous lifestyle.
He married Sheikha Shaikha bint Saeed bin Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum in 2019, in a grand ceremony alongside his brothers, Sheikh Maktoum and Sheikh Ahmad.
Sheikh Hamdan’s new daughter, Hind, carries a name deeply rooted in tradition, honouring her grandmother and the rich cultural legacy of the Al Maktoum family.
