As police control in the border areas between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab weakens, incidents of terrorism have surged. Over the past year, nine terrorist attacks have been reported in the Sargodha and DG Khan regions.
These attacks claimed the lives of two police officers and one civilian, with several others injured.
The Inspector General (IG) of Punjab attributed these attacks to weak infrastructure at border posts.
In response, a summary has been submitted to the Punjab Home Department, recommending the upgradation of 30 border outposts in Sargodha and DG Khan.
The cost of the project, estimated at Rs52.71 million has been approved by the Cabinet Committee.
The Department of Construction and Communications has already completed a survey and a supplementary grant will be released to fund the upgrades.
