The Foreign Office has advised foreign diplomats to restrict their movement in Islamabad ahead of the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting, scheduled for October 15 and 16.
In letters sent to diplomatic missions on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, foreign diplomats were informed about strict security measures that will be in place for the participants during the high-profile event.
The government has implemented these security arrangements to ensure the safety of participants attending the SCO meeting. The Foreign Office informed the diplomats that several key highways in Islamabad will be closed to general traffic during the conference.

In an effort to avoid any inconvenience or security risks, diplomats have been urged to limit their movements to the Red Zone and Diplomatic Enclave. They were also asked to adhere to the traffic plan set for the event to ensure smooth logistical coordination during the conference.

The police have ordered the closure of marriage halls, cafés, restaurants, and snooker clubs from October 12 to 16 to ensure smooth proceedings during the high-profile event.

The decision has been taken to enhance security and minimise public movement in sensitive areas. These notices were issued to the traders concerned by station house officers (SHOs) of various police stations. The police has emphasised that action will be taken against the businesses and traders not complying with the orders.
