Egypt's petroleum ministry announced a rise in fuel prices early Friday, marking the third increase this year.
According to details, the diesel fuel prices have surged by 17 per cent, now priced at 13.50 Egyptian pounds ($0.2779) per litre, up from 11.50 pounds.
Petrol prices have also seen adjustments, with an increase ranging from 11% to 13% depending on the grade. Specifically, 80 octane gasoline has risen to 13.75 pounds, 92 octane to 15.25 pounds, and 95 octane to 17 pounds.
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly previously indicated in July that fuel prices would undergo gradual increases until the end of 2025, citing the government's inability to sustain fuel subsidies amid rising consumption.
Notably, the government's fuel pricing committee, which usually meets quarterly, announced that its next meeting will be scheduled in six months.
