The government has decided to close all Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations across the country for December and January to ensure uninterrupted gas supply for domestic consumers during the harsh winter months.
Sources confirm that instructions have been issued to Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited to enforce the closure.
Additionally, gas supply to power plants will be halted during this two-month period, further prioritizing the needs of household consumers. Captive power stations will also be affected, with gas supplies suspended to ensure that domestic households have access to necessary energy resources.
The decision aims to address the anticipated demand surge for gas in the domestic sector, as colder weather typically leads to increased consumption for heating and cooking.
The government is taking proactive steps to safeguard domestic energy needs during the winter season.
