Federal Minister for Investment, Communications, and Privatisation Abdul Aleem Khan called on Belarusian Minister of Transport Alexei Likhanovich on Monday.
During their discussions, both leaders expressed a mutual interest in fostering closer ties between Pakistan and Belarus, particularly in the fields of transport and communications.
The Belarusian minister extended an invitation to Minister Abdul Aleem Khan to visit Belarus shortly, further solidifying their growing diplomatic relations.
In the meeting, Abdul Aleem Khan highlighted the ongoing efforts to establish a direct flight route from Islamabad to Moscow, suggesting the inclusion of Belarus in this initiative.
The federal minister emphasised the potential for greater regional connectivity and proposed that Belarus could become an important partner in Pakistan's investment strategies, with plans to create a trade corridor linking Pakistan to Central Asia, akin to the successful Karakoram Highway and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Aleem Khan further welcomed the upcoming visit of a 68-member Belarusian delegation, including the country’s President and several ministers, to Pakistan. He expressed optimism that this visit would pave the way for enhanced Government-to-Government (G2G) and Business-to-Business (B2B) exchanges between the two nations.
Additionally, Khan underlined the importance of incorporating green energy and environmentally friendly initiatives in the transport sector as part of the bilateral cooperation.
For his part, Minister Likhanovich expressed keen interest in investing in Pakistan’s transport infrastructure, particularly in expanding railway and road networks. He emphasized Belarus’s commitment to strengthening its ties with Pakistan and expressed goodwill toward the country and its people.
