The Kot Addu Power Company Limited (Kapco) has proposed supplying electricity to K-Electric at an exceptionally low rate of Rs9.8 per unit in a development that can lead to the people of Karachi enjoying cheap solar power.
The company formally communicated this offer through a letter to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, highlighting its commitment to providing affordable solar energy.
The letter states that the offer is based on an exchange rate of Rs288.65 to the dollar. According to Kapco, the solar power project will being the per kilowatt cost of electricity to 3.4 US cents.
Kapco plans to establish the solar energy project in Deh Halkani, located in Karachi's South District, its letter to the stock exchange states. However, work on the project will begin after receiving final approval from the letter National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra).
