Australian captain Pat Cummins confirmed that fast bowler Josh Hazlewood is expected to be fit for the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, scheduled to take place at the Gabba in Brisbane.
Hazlewood missed the second Test due to injury, but Cummins reassured fans with a positive update following Australia’s dominant victory in Adelaide.
Australia’s emphatic 2nd Test win at the Adelaide Oval saw them level the series 1-1 against India, thanks to a devastating bowling performance from their pace attack. Mitchell Starc and Cummins took key wickets, dismissing India for 180 in the first innings and 175 in the second. None of the Indian batters managed to score a half-century.
Speaking to the media after the match, Cummins provided an optimistic forecast regarding Hazlewood’s return. "He will have to bowl tomorrow, so he's all on track. He will bowl tomorrow and then we will have to assess from there. But yeah, it's all gone to plan so far," Cummins stated.
He added, "We are fairly confident that he will be alright for Brisbane, and we'll know more in the next couple of days. Yeah, if someone has to make way, that'll be pretty unlucky."
