Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is set to be discharged from Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital today following a violent attack at his Bandra residence last week.
Dr Nitin Dange, the attending physician at Lilavati Hospital, confirmed the news on Tuesday morning, stating that the actor's discharge papers were filed last night. Khan is expected to leave the hospital between 10 am and 12 pm today.
The actor had been hospitalized following a shocking stabbing incident during a burglary attempt at his home on Thursday. The assailant reportedly attacked Khan with a knife, stabbing him nearly six times.
After the brutal assault, Saif Ali Khan was rushed to Lilavati Hospital in an autorickshaw at around 2:30 am, where he underwent two surgeries to treat his injuries.
In a statement to the Mumbai Police, Khan's wife and actor Kareena Kapoor Khan described the harrowing scene, revealing that the intruder had grown increasingly violent during the altercation.
However, the attacker refrained from taking any of the jewelry that was left in plain sight. Kareena confirmed that Saif had acted courageously, intervening to protect the house help, who was held hostage during the ordeal. Khan also ensured that the assailant did not reach his youngest son, Jeh, who was in the house at the time.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident, with authorities focusing on the intruder's motives and the details surrounding the failed burglary.
On the professional front, Saif Ali Khan was last seen in the Telugu film Devara, where he starred alongside Jr. NTR and Janhvi Kapoor. The actor's fans and industry colleagues have expressed their relief and well wishes following the traumatic incident.
