The federal cabinet has approved a comprehensive security plan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, deploying the Pakistan Army, civil armed forces, police, and law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of participating teams.
Sources confirmed on Saturday that the security arrangements will be implemented under Article 245 of the Constitution, which allows the deployment of the Pakistan Army for internal security purposes.
Teams arriving in Pakistan from February 12 for the highly anticipated cricket tournament will receive presidential-level security. The decision was made following requests from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Punjab, and Sindh governments, emphasizing the need for foolproof security measures.

According to sources, the Interior Ministry has already issued directives to all relevant institutions and provincial home departments to ensure top-tier security protocols.
The Champions Trophy 2025 is set to begin in Pakistan from February 19, with the event concluding on March 9. The matches will be played in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi.
India had refused to send its team to Pakistan, due to which its matches will be held in the UAE under a hybrid model. If the Indian team qualifies, a semi-final will also be held in Dubai, and if the Indian team reaches the final, this match will also be played in Dubai.

On the other hand, a tri-series has started between Pakistan, New Zealand and South Africa, for which anti-drone technology has been made operational for the first time due to security concerns.
It should be noted that the newly constructed Gaddafi Stadium was inaugurated by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday for which a colourful ceremony was held. Renowned singers Arif Lohar, Aima Baig and Ali Zafar performed at the event.
