Pakistani actress Nadia Jamil, known for her powerful performances and humanitarian work, recently shared a hilarious throwback from her teenage years involving former Prime Minister and cricket legend Imran Khan.
During an appearance on a private channel’s podcast, Nadia recalled an incident from her youth when she was dating her now-husband, Ali Pervaiz. The two were out for a drive, enjoying music, when they were suddenly stopped by President Zia-ul-Haq’s special police squad, which was infamous for randomly questioning couples and demanding Nikkah Namas (marriage certificates).
As a teenager, Nadia panicked and called her uncle, Yousaf Salahuddin, for help—avoiding her father at all costs. However, she didn’t realize that her father was at the same gathering where Yousaf Salahuddin was entertaining guests.
To her surprise, five people arrived at the police station to get her out—including Imran Khan, her uncle Yousaf Salahuddin, and her father. The police, seemingly in awe of the 1992 World Cup-winning cricketer, served him tea before letting Nadia and Ali go without any trouble.
Years later, Imran Khan jokingly praised Nadia, saying: “You’re a good kid—you actually married that boy.”
The anecdote not only highlights a funny yet nerve-wracking moment from Nadia’s life but also showcases Imran Khan’s unexpected role in saving the day.
