Pakistan expressed its concern over the United States' announcement to provide advanced weapons to India
A spokesperson from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) expressed concern that the joint statement ignored the significant cooperation between Pakistan and the US in counter-terrorism efforts.
The spokesperson further remarked that Pakistan was deeply concerned over the announcement to provide advanced defence technology to India.
Shafqat Ali Khan, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, criticised the inclusion of Pakistan in the statement, stating, "We were astonished that the joint declaration overlooked the counter-terrorism cooperation between Pakistan and the United States, and sidelined India's failure to implement the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council, which is a fundamental cause of regional tensions and instability."
The spokesperson also rejected Israeli prime minister's remarks regarding the settlement of Palestinians in Saudi Arabia, calling them reckless, provocative, and meaningless.
"Pakistan rejects the recent statement by the Israeli prime minister, which discussed the establishment of a Palestinian state in Saudi Arabia. The statement is irresponsible and incites further tensions. Pakistan stands firmly with Saudi Arabia," Shafqat Ali Khan added.
In his weekly briefing, Khan highlighted the growing concerns over the shift in regional power dynamics, particularly with the United States' increasing military support to India.
He warned that such policies could disturb the balance of power in the region.
On the issue of terrorism, Khan confirmed that Pakistan viewed the presence of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Afghanistan as a significant issue.
"We have raised this matter repeatedly with the Afghan government. We are highlighting the issue of terrorism emanating from Afghanistan on the international stage," said the spokesperson.
The spokesperson also condemned the United States' approach of providing advanced defence technology to India, labelling it as a disruptive factor in the region’s stability.
He also addressed concerns regarding the Kashmir issue, which, according to him, had been ignored in the joint declaration.
