Bollywood’s beloved RAW agent, Pathaan, is set to return, with rumours of Deepika Padukone reprising her role as Rubina.
The script for the highly anticipated sequel is nearly complete, with screenwriter Abbas Tyrewala confirming during a podcast that the next step is finalizing the dialogues. Aditya Chopra, head of Yash Raj Films (YRF), has been developing the sequel since mid-2023, aiming to surpass the success of the original film.
Shah Rukh Khan will reprise his role as the fearless RAW agent, Pathaan, while rumours suggest that Deepika Padukone will return as Rubina. However, Siddharth Anand, who directed the first Pathaan, will not helm the sequel. Aditya Chopra might direct it himself or hand over the reins to Ayan Mukerji, the director of ‘War 2.’
Pathaan 2 will play a crucial role in YRF’s expanding Spy Universe, which includes blockbusters like Salman Khan’s Tiger series and Hrithik Roshan’s War. The sequel is expected to dive deeper into Pathaan’s story while laying the groundwork for future crossovers and spy missions.
Filming is set to kick off in early 2026 after Shah Rukh Khan wraps up his current project, King, co-starring his daughter Suhana Khan and Abhishek Bachchan. Following Pathaan 2, fans can expect more action-packed instalments from the YRF Spy Universe, including War 2 and Alpha. There’s also buzz about a potential showdown between Salman Khan’s Tiger and Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, making the future of this cinematic universe even more thrilling.
With the script nearly locked and pre-production set to begin soon, anticipation is building for Pathaan 2, promising more high-octane action, intense spy missions, and electrifying performances.
