With Pakistan’s upcoming white-ball series in New Zealand, senior players are reportedly considering taking a break, sources revealed. Discussions among the players regarding their participation are underway.
Some players are expected to opt out of the tour, which is scheduled from March 16 to April 5 and includes five T20Is and three ODIs.
The decision comes amid growing concerns over the team’s performance in the Champions Trophy, where several players underperformed. Sources indicate that some team members fear being dropped due to their lackluster performances, and high-ranking officials within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are reportedly displeased.
Amid dissatisfaction with recent results, discussions on potential changes in the selection committee, team management, and the white-ball squad have gained momentum. Reports suggest that key players, including Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah, and Babar Azam, could face exclusion.
To preemptively avoid the label of being dropped, some players are considering voluntarily withdrawing from the New Zealand tour, sources added.
