As Ramadan began, the prices of cooking oils in Karachi experienced a significant increase, adding to the financial strain on local citizens.
Edible oils, including cooking and mustard oils, saw a notable surge in prices, with the cost of open edible oil rising from Rs480 to Rs500 per litre.
A local vendor stated, “Mustard oil has also become more expensive, increasing by Rs20 rupees per litre, now selling at Rs520.”
Various brands of cooking oil were observed selling at different prices in Karachi's markets, reflecting the ongoing inflationary trend across food products.
The price hike in edible oils coincided with the rising costs of fruits, leaving consumers concerned about their increased expenses during Ramadan.
