The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) disqualified 24 former lawmakers from the national and provincial assemblies for not submitting their financial details for the fiscal year 2022-23.
According to details, the decision, which came after a thorough review of the cases, included 10 former members of the National Assembly and seven former members each from the Sindh and Balochistan assemblies.
Among those disqualified were former Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) Khurram Dastgir Khan, Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha, and Mohammad Adil. The list also included former MNA Rana Mohammad Ishaq Khan, Kamaluddin, and Ismatullah, all of whom were deemed ineligible by the Election Commission.
The ECP also declared former MNAs Samina Matloob, Nasiba, Shamim Ara Panwar and Rubina Irfan unfit to contest any elections until they submit their financial details.
The electoral watchdog’s decision clearly stated that these lawmakers would remain disqualified from participating in any future elections until they provided the necessary financial documentation.
