President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the firing incident on passengers in Kalmat, Balochistan. Expressing deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives, the president and premier extended condolences to the victims' families.
The president stated that terrorists are enemies of the country’s progress and the province’s prosperity, adding that they do not want to see Balochistan develop. He also prayed for the swift recovery of the injured and for strength and patience for the bereaved families.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also issued a strong condemnation of the attack, expressing deep grief and sorrow over the loss of lives. He offered condolences to the families of the victims and directed authorities to ensure the best medical care for the injured.
The prime minister ordered a thorough investigation into the incident and stressed that those responsible must be brought to justice. He further stated that anti-state elements are the enemies of Balochistan’s peace and development, vowing that such cowardly attacks will never succeed in their malicious intentions.
The attack occurred in the Kalmat area of Gwadar, where armed assailants intercepted vehicles on the Coastal Highway.
According to Levies sources, the attackers stopped a passenger bus traveling from Gwadar to Karachi, identified individuals, and killed four passengers while abducting three others.
Security forces and Levies personnel rushed to the scene following the attack. Reports suggest that the deceased were from Punjab.
Balochistan has witnessed several such incidents in the past, where armed terrorists groups have targeted non-local passengers, particularly those from Punjab. These attacks are part of ongoing security challenges in the region, as militant groups continue their violent campaigns.
