Australia had announced that it would host eight white-ball matches against India from August to November before beginning their quest to retain the Ashes title against England, according to Cricket Australia's newly released home fixture list.
The series would kick off with two T20 Internationals against South Africa in Darwin in August. This marks the first time in 17 years that international cricket would be played in every state and territory in Australia within the same calendar year.
After the six white-ball matches against South Africa, Australia would face India in a three-match one-day international series. India, who had defeated Australia in the semi-finals of the Champions Trophy earlier that month, were set to be formidable opponents. This would be followed by a five-match T20 series against India, who had emerged as Australia's fiercest rivals across all three formats of the game in recent years.
Pat Cummins and his team were scheduled to begin their Ashes campaign in Perth on November 21 against England, with subsequent tests planned in Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne, and Sydney.
Cricket Australia's women’s team would also play a multi-format series against India, which would include the first-ever day-night test in Perth in March the following year. This series, according to Cricket Australia’s CEO Todd Greenberg, would bookend what he described as an "incredible international season."
"We smashed many records for attendance, viewing audiences, and digital engagement last summer and we’re confident that this incredible momentum will continue throughout what promises to be an engrossing season," Greenberg said in a statement.
