An International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation is set to arrive in Pakistan in the coming days to hold follow-up discussions with the government regarding technical assistance on governance, sources from the Ministry of Finance revealed.
The talks will focus on governance-related technical matters, but no meeting regarding the upcoming budget has been scheduled yet, according to ministry officials.
It is important to note that Pakistan and the IMF have already reached a staff-level agreement, paving the way for the disbursement of a $1 billion loan tranche, subject to approval by the IMF Executive Board.
Additionally, Pakistan is expected to receive the first installment of $1.3 billion in climate financing under a 28-month program. The IMF Executive Board is likely to meet in May to finalize these decisions.
