In a major development for the global cryptocurrency and blockchain space, Changpeng Zhao (CZ), the renowned founder of Binance and a pivotal figure in the Web3 ecosystem, has been appointed as a strategic advisor to the Pakistan Crypto Council (PCC).
The official announcement came following a high-level meeting between CZ and the PCC, chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb. The session was attended by top government officials, including the chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), the governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, and federal secretaries from the Law and IT ministries.
During his visit, CZ also held separate meetings with the prime minister and deputy prime minister.
“This is a landmark moment for Pakistan,” said Senator Aurangzeb. “We are sending a clear message to the world: Pakistan is open for innovation. With CZ onboard, we are accelerating our vision to make Pakistan a regional powerhouse for Web3, digital finance, and blockchain-driven growth.”
Bilal Bin Saqib, CEO of the Pakistan Crypto Council, echoed the sentiment: “Pakistan is opening its doors to the future of finance. And who better to guide us on this journey than CZ — a pioneer who built the world’s largest crypto exchange and changed the way billions think about financial freedom.”
In his role, CZ will advise on critical areas such as regulatory frameworks, digital infrastructure, public education, and mass adoption of crypto technologies. His guidance is expected to be instrumental in creating a secure, inclusive, and globally competitive crypto ecosystem within Pakistan.
“Pakistan is a country of 240 million people, over 60% of whom are under the age of 30. The potential here is limitless,” CZ noted during the announcement.
The Pakistan Crypto Council, established under the Finance Division, is leading the country’s digital finance transformation. With CZ now on board, Pakistan aims to join global leaders like Singapore, Dubai, and Switzerland in becoming a forward-looking, Web3-ready nation.
