Andries Gous’s unbeaten (45-ball 80) powered Islamabad United to a comfortable seven-wicket victory over Multan Sultans in the 13th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) at the Multan cricket stadium on Wednesday.
Chasing a 169-run target, the United completed equation with 17 balls remaining. Despite losing an early wicket, Gous and Colin Munro stitched a crucial partnership.
For the Sultans, Michael Bracewell, Ubaid Shah and Chris Jordan took a scalp each.
Earlier, Usman Khan’s blistering 40-ball 61 powered Multan Sultans to 168 for 5 against Islamabad United.
Opting to bat first, the Sultans made a decent start as Yasir Khan and Mohammad Rizwan put on a 51-run stand. However, Rizwan consumed 37 deliveries to amass 36 at a strike rate of 97.29 before he was dismissed by Shadab Khan.
Yasir scored a 17-ball 29, which included two boundaries and two sixes.
Michael Bracewell failed to score heavily and fell for a 7-ball 9, which featured one boundary.
Iftikhar Ahmed made a 8-ball 10, which included one boundary.
Kamran Ghulam (13) and Chris Jordan (6) remained unbeaten.
For United, Shadab Khan (1 for 29), Mohammad Nawaz (1 for 13), Jason Holder (1 for 25), and Riley Meredith (1 for 33) each took one wicket.
