A systematic pattern of false flag operations conducted by India over several decades, designed to diplomatically isolate Pakistan and divert attention from India's internal challenges. These operations strategically coincide with high-profile diplomatic visits or major international events.
In January 1971, an Indian Airlines aircraft was hijacked and diverted to Lahore. India immediately accused Pakistan and imposed flight restrictions to East Pakistan, despite lacking conclusive evidence of Pakistani involvement.
When U.S. President Bill Clinton visited India in March 2000, the massacre of 36 Sikhs occurred in occupied Kashmir. While Pakistan was initially blamed, subsequent evidence pointed to Indian forces orchestrating the incident to malign Pakistan during the high-profile diplomatic visit.
The December 13, 2001 attack on the Indian Parliament followed a similar pattern. Without substantial evidence, Pakistan was immediately accused, creating a militarized atmosphere along the border that nearly escalated to conflict.
The February 2007 Samjhauta Express bombing, which killed 68 people—mostly Pakistanis—was initially blamed on Pakistan. Later investigations implicated Hindu extremist organizations in India, revealing an attempt to undermine the peace process between the two countries.
The 2008 Mumbai attacks were immediately attributed to Pakistan. However, inconsistencies in the investigation and the suspicious death of Anti-Terrorism Squad chief Hemant Karkare raised questions about the actual perpetrators and motives.
In January 2016, following Prime Minister Modi's surprise visit to Pakistan, the Pathankot Air Base attack occurred. Again, Pakistan was accused without concrete evidence, derailing diplomatic progress that had just been initiated.
The February 2019 Pulwama suicide bombing killed 40 Indian personnel just before Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's visit to Pakistan. India's immediate accusations against Pakistan were contradicted by subsequent investigations.
Most recently, in January 2023, Pakistani intelligence exposed an Indian plan to stage a false operation in Poonch district of Indian-occupied Kashmir around Republic Day, intending to accuse Pakistan of terrorism.
These incidents illustrate a persistent pattern where India fabricates or manipulates violent events to damage Pakistan's international reputation, particularly during significant diplomatic moments. Such actions have not only deteriorated bilateral relations but also seriously threatened regional peace and stability.
