In an unprecedented turn, India’s longest-running crime drama, CID, has unveiled its first-ever silent episode, adding a groundbreaking chapter to its iconic legacy.
Titled "The Silent Den", the episode presents a murder mystery unlike any other, told entirely without dialogue.
The plot unfolds inside a high-tech escape room called The Silent Den, where a seemingly fun birthday celebration takes a dark turn. With no words spoken, the CID team must rely solely on gestures, eye contact, surveillance footage, and forensic clues to crack the case.
Veteran actor Dayanand Shetty, known as Senior Inspector Daya, described the episode as a creative milestone, “This episode is unlike anything we’ve done before. It challenged us to express emotion and intensity without a single word. As an actor, it was deeply rewarding. It’s not just about solving a crime — it’s about revealing something personal, something that cuts deeper.”
His long-time co-star, Aditya Srivastava aka Senior Inspector Abhijeet, echoed the sentiment, “This is storytelling in its purest form. As actors, we had to communicate through presence, emotion, and movement. It’s a tribute to our audience who have supported us for years, and we hope this episode resonates with them long after it ends.”
With over two decades of thrilling investigations, CID has continuously redefined crime storytelling on Indian television. This silent format episode, airing on Sony Entertainment Television and streaming on Sony LIV, marks a bold exploration of non-verbal narrative, elevating the show’s commitment to innovation and emotional depth.
