Quetta Gladiators secured a narrow five-run victory over Karachi Kings in the 15th match of the tenth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Friday.
The Karachi Kings won the toss and opted to field first. Batting first, the Quetta Gladiators were all out for 142 runs in the final over of their innings.
Faheem Ashraf played a key role for Quetta, contributing 43 runs. Kusal Mendis followed with 36 runs, while Hassan Nawaz added 35 runs. Hasan Ali of Karachi Kings was the pick of the bowlers, claiming three wickets. Mir Hamza and Abbas Afridi also impressed with the ball, each taking two wickets.
In their chase of 143 runs, Karachi Kings fell short, ending their innings at 137 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs. Tim Seifert top-scored with 47 runs, while James Vince contributed 30 runs and Hasan Ali scored 24 runs. For Quetta, Mohammad Amir, Khurram Shahzad, and Mohammad Wasim each claimed two wickets, helping their team secure the crucial win.
But Abrar Ahmed was tidy with the bowl, conceding merely 15 runs and a picked a wicket to bag a player of the match award.
The victory earned the Quetta Gladiators two valuable points in the tournament standings.
