Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch has confirmed that the American weapons left in Afghanistan have fallen into the hands of terrorists, who are a constant threat to Pakistan.
Speaking at a weekly press briefing on Friday, she stated that Pakistan continues to face a danger from American weapons that are present in Afghanistan and have since been obtained by terrorists. Pakistan is counting on the Afghan interim government to carry out its obligations that Kabul won’t allow terrorists to use its soil.
Responding to questions regarding the recent terrorist attack on military posts in Chitral, the spokesperson said that Pakistan has informed the Afghan interim government of its concerns regarding the recent incident.
Ms Baloch further said that Pakistan and the United States held fruitful talks on several issues including security and prevention of terrorism and also reiterated Pakistan’s determination to end terrorism.
To a question, the spokesman said, “We have invited our partners, especially the Gulf countries, to come and invest in Pakistan, adding that we are in touch with them in this regard.”
It should be recalled that the US has consistently said that at the time of its withdrawal from Afghanistan after over 20 years of combat, no military equipment was left behind that could fall into the hands of terrorist organizations.
