Netflix’s smash-hit series Wednesday is making a grand return. The streamer has officially announced that Season 2 will be split into two parts — the first batch of episodes landing on 6 August 2025, with the second half following on 3 September.
The first full-length trailer, appropriately dropped on a Wednesday, gives fans a peek at the eerie chaos ahead at Nevermore Academy. Jenna Ortega reprises her role as Wednesday Addams, now navigating life under a new headmaster, Principal Barry Dort, played by Steve Buscemi. Joining the ranks is Wednesday’s younger brother, Pugsley, portrayed by Isaac Ordonez, who is described as an "outcast among outcasts."

Adding to the excitement, veteran actress Joanna Lumley enters the scene as Hester Frump, Wednesday’s eccentric grandmother. Show creator Miles Millar praised Lumley’s performance, calling her "perfect and hilarious" in the role. Lumley herself expressed her love for the intoxicating atmosphere of Nevermore, revelling in the elaborate costumes and wigs her character demands.
We tease Steve Buscemi's Principal Dort as a "mysterious" figure who evidently takes pride in the outcast culture of Nevermore. His character adds a new layer of intrigue to the already spooky setting.
The trailer kicks off with a humorous airport security scene, setting the quirky tone fans adore. Ortega, now an even bigger star thanks to roles in Beetlejuice and Scream XI, called Wednesday "one of the coolest characters of all time."
With hints at more mayhem, possible surprise cameos (including rumoured appearances by Lady Gaga), and the Addams family’s signature dark humour, Netflix is betting big on replicating its record-breaking success on Wednesday. Splitting the season is considered a strategy to maintain buzz and subscriber retention.
Wherever there’s murder and mayhem, you’ll always find an Addams—and this season promises no less.
