Adiba Anam, the daughter of an autorickshaw driver from Yavatmal, has become Maharashtra’s first Muslim woman to secure a place in the prestigious Indian Administrative Service (IAS).
She clinched the 142nd rank in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2024.
Coming from the agrarian distress-hit Vidarbha region, Adiba's journey is a powerful testament to determination in the face of hardship.
Her father, who could not complete his own education, worked tirelessly as an auto driver to support his daughter’s academic pursuits. Today, their shared sacrifices have culminated in a historic success.
After completing her graduation in mathematics, Adiba moved to Pune for UPSC preparation. Despite initial setbacks—including two unsuccessful attempts and a near miss after reaching the interview stage—she remained focused and unwavering in her pursuit. Her persistence paid off in her third attempt.
