The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) political and core committees issued a joint statement on Monday, declaring India as a serious threat to regional peace and emphasizing that Pakistan is currently at a critical juncture.
The statement called for national unity and highlighted the need for reliable leadership amidst growing security concerns over Indian provocations.
The PTI statement comes at a time when tensions between India and Pakistan are escalating. The party has announced that a high alert has been declared in response to India’s threats. The statement underlined the importance of national solidarity during these challenging times and stressed that the country’s leadership must remain vigilant.
“The founder’s message is clear: Peace remains our priority, but it must not be misinterpreted as cowardice,” the statement read, pointing to PTI’s stance on peace without compromising on national security. The party emphasized that while peace efforts are crucial, they must not be seen as weakness in the face of external threats.
Criticizing the current government’s response to these external threats, PTI contended that the country is being led by a "silent and inattentive government," which, according to the statement, is unable to defend the nation’s sovereignty effectively. The party insisted that only the leadership of PTI’s founder, Imran Khan, could ensure Pakistan’s defense and unity during this critical time.
The joint statement further demanded the immediate release of PTI's founder, who is currently in solitary confinement. “At such a time, the leadership of the founder is indispensable,” it said, labeling the continued detention of Imran Khan as an “injustice” and an act “anti-national” in the current crisis.
PTI made it clear that their demand for the release of Imran Khan was supported by the people of Pakistan. The party emphasized that the nation stands united in its call for a strong and capable leadership that can safeguard the country’s sovereignty and address the national security concerns in the face of external threats.
