A Russian man created chaos on a domestic flight when he threatened to blow up the plane after being denied alcohol.
Andrei Sidyakin, a 39-year-old hockey player from the Russian Hockey League team Monetka in Yekaterinburg, harassed flight attendants for vodka, but things took a dangerous turn when his demands were refused.
According to a post on Telegram by the popular Russian newspaper Mash, Sidyakin exhibited defiant behaviour during the flight, persistently badgering the flight attendants for a drink.
He received warnings from the staff before making a more serious threat.
Sidyakin informed the flight attendants that he had an explosive device and even attempted to open the plane's door.
As a result, the flight attendants had to spend the remainder of the flight searching for any signs of a bomb or weapon. Remarkably, the flight was not diverted during this incident.
Upon arriving in Moscow, security officers from Sheremetyevo Airport and police officers boarded the plane to conduct further searches. While Sidyakin was not detained, he was denied further travel to Ural and instructed to find an alternative means of transportation.
This incident stands in stark contrast to a January flight from Russia to India, which was diverted and delayed for several hours due to a bomb threat.
A chartered flight from Moscow to Goa, carrying 244 people, was diverted to Jamnagar airport in India after an email warning of a bomb threat was received by air traffic control in Goa.
It led to an extensive search and a 15-hour delay before the flight could continue its journey.
