The Supreme Judicial Council’s (SJC) inquiry into the allegations made against Justice Sardar Tariq Masood by Amna Malik resulted in an unexpected conclusion, as the council found her answers to important questions lacking and ultimately deemed her responses unreliable.
The council publicly released the 23 questions asked to Ms Malik, shedding light on her replies that raised doubts about her credibility.
When asked if she was familiar with Advocate Azhar Siddique, Malik confirmed her acquaintance. Further questioning about her husband’s past association as a junior partner with Siddique, she affirmed this connection. However, when asked about submitting a complaint against Advocate Azhar Siddique, she claimed lack of knowledge.
Regarding the drafting of the complaint against Justice Sardar Tariq Masood, she attributed the work to her “team,” without providing further clarification when pressed by the council. Similarly, she declined to disclose where she obtained the copy of the FBR’s order accompanying the complaint.
Regrettably, when asked specific questions regarding fiscal obligations, lawful registration, or banking particulars, Ms Malik’s replies were vague, citing insufficient familiarity or declining to furnish a response. She affirmed being the only member of her civil organisation, incapable of naming other individuals involved or offering applicable details about the group’s composition.
