Arab media reported from Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, citing Hamas-affiliated media that sound of gunfire and explosions in the north of the Gaza Strip, particularly in the northwest of Gaza City.
This incident coincided with the hovering of Israeli military drones and fighter jets in the sky of the Gaza Strip.
Israeli military says it ‘intercepts’ launch from Gaza
The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) said it activated its alarm system near Israel’s border with the Gaza Strip following reports of a launch.
The military said one launch was detected and intercepted by air defence. Earlier, Israeli media reported sirens being turned on as part of the country’s Iron Dome missile defence system that detects incoming rockets. There were no immediate statements from Palestinian armed groups.
Gaza’s government media office reports that most of the destroyed homes were located in northern Gaza, including Gaza City.
The media office said that at least 50,000 families and their extended families are now homeless. In addition, an estimated 250,000 housing units were also partially destroyed in the Israeli bombing campaign that began across the besieged Palestinian territory on October 7.
