The winter season has arrived in Karachi, with the Meteorological Department reporting cold and chilly weather with prevailing cold winds. The current temperature in the city is 19 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 15 degrees recorded earlier today.
Cold winds are likely to increase in the evening hours, the Met Department reported. The winds are blowing from the northeast at a speed of six kilometres per hour, further adding to the chill. The humidity ratio in the air stands at 87%, making the air feel even colder.
While the maximum temperature is expected to reach 27 to 29 degrees Celsius, citizens are advised to take precautions against the cold, especially during the evening hours when the winds are likely to pick up.
Adding to the city's woes, the air quality remains poor. Karachi has been ranked fifth among the most polluted cities in the world, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) recording a particulate matter level of 202. This level is considered harmful to human health, with experts advising citizens to use masks when venturing outdoors.
The cold weather and poor air quality are likely to persist in the coming days, prompting authorities to urge citizens to take necessary precautions to protect their health.
