The inflation-hit masses are likely to face another price hike soon, as the federal government has requested that Nepra increase the cost of electricity for the residents of Karachi.
The government has requested an increase of Rs1.72 per unit for K-Electric under last year’s second and third quarterly adjustments.
An increase of Rs1.25 per unit has been sought for January to March 2023, while a hike of 47 paisas has been sought for October to December quarterly adjustment.
This increase has been sought to maintain a uniform electricity tariff across the country, sources said.
Nepra will hear the federal government’s application on December 20.
