As temperatures continue to plummet exacerbating the demand for gas reports have surfaced of consumers resorting to perilous methods to artificially increase gas pressure in their homes and businesses.
The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has issued a stern warning against such practices, emphasizing the severe risks involved.
A spokesperson for SNGPL in Faisalabad condemned the use of illegal methods, including the use of compressors, to augment gas pressure. The spokesperson underscored the dangers associated with such practices, labeling them as "extremely dangerous" and urged the public to refrain from engaging in such activities.
The primary concern raised by the SNGPL spokesperson revolves around the potential hazards posed by self-increasing gas pressure. The existing gas pipelines are not designed to withstand artificially elevated pressures, increasing the likelihood of leaks. The repercussions of such leaks are dire, posing threats to both human lives and property.
In response to the growing issue, the gas department has initiated a comprehensive inspection campaign. If any user is found to have increased gas pressure through illegal means, stringent action, including the disconnection of gas connections, will be taken. The spokesperson stressed the importance of immediate cessation of any unauthorized pressure-increasing activities for the safety of the individuals involved.
The SNGPL spokesperson issued a direct appeal to domestic and commercial consumers, urging them to comply with safety regulations. Any individual found guilty of tampering with gas pressure will face severe consequences, including disconnection of their gas supply. The spokesperson emphasized the gravity of the situation, warning of strict actions against those caught during routine inspections.
