In a heartfelt joint statement, Hugh Jackman and his wife Deborra-lee have announced their amicable decision to end their marriage.
The statement reads: "We have been blessed to share almost three decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting, and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth."
Acknowledging the importance of their family, the couple adds, "Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives."
The statement is signed by both "Deb and Hugh Jackman" and concludes with the declaration that it is their sole statement on the matter.
The Australian couple, who are proud parents to two children, Oscar, 23, and Ava, 18, has enjoyed 27 years of marriage.
Their love story began in 1995 when they met on the set of the Australian TV series "Corelli." Despite Deb's established acting career and Hugh's budding actor status fresh out of drama school, they fell in love rapidly and married less than a year later.
Hugh Jackman fondly recalled their first meeting, saying, "Deb, she was a big star… I get picked up, and Deb is in the front seat of the car. I’ll never forget... I remember thinking, ‘I like this girl.’"
The couple tied the knot on April 11, 1996, becoming one of Hollywood's most beloved and enduring couples.
In April, on their 27th wedding anniversary, Hugh shared a touching tribute to Deb on Instagram, celebrating their beautiful family and their enduring bond. They have been celebrated not only for their love but also for their shared philanthropic efforts and commitment to social causes.
Their most recent public appearance was at the Met Gala on May 1, and in July, they attended the men's finals at Wimbledon together.
