The security forces foiled an attempt by around 10 terrorists to enter Punjab from a provincial border following an exchange of fire between the suspects and the police at the Jhangi checkpoint of Dera Ghazi Khan.
According to the Punjab Police, eight to 10 terrorists of a banned organisation attacked the Jhangi checkpost in the Wahwa police station on Tuesday night and tried to enter the province.
The Punjab police chief said the security officials identified the terrorists through thermal image cameras. The officials retaliated and forced the group of terrorists to flee. After the incident, a search operation was launched in the area.
The terrorists wanted to enter Punjab and disrupt peace and order. Additional security personnel have been deployed at other border checkposts on high alert, including the Jhangi post.
