The US State Department has appointed Margaret MacLeod, a fluent speaker of Urdu and Hindi, as a spokesperson in London to enhance communication with South Asian linguistic communities.
MacLeod gained proficiency in Urdu and Hindi during her diplomatic work in India and Pakistan.
She expressed her passion for Urdu and how her stay in Pakistan helped her learn both literal and colloquial Urdu.
MacLeod, a seasoned American diplomat, is currently posted in the US Embassy's International Media Hub, engaging with South Asian media, especially India and Pakistan.
She holds a doctorate in Sustainable Development from Columbia University and has served in various overseas assignments.
