Bollywood diva Zareen Khan has been issued an arrest warrant by a Kolkata court in connection with an alleged cheating case dating back to 2018.
The case was registered against her by the organizers of a Durga Puja function in Kolkata who alleged that Zareen Khan failed to show up for the event despite agreeing to perform.
According to police, the actor's manager had booked her flight tickets and accommodation for the event, but she did not show up on the day.
The organizers then filed a complaint of cheating against Khan and her manager.
Zareen Khan was questioned by the police in 2018, but she claimed that she had been misled by the organizers.
She also alleged that she was told that heavyweight ministers, including Bengal's chief minister, would attend the function, but later found out that it was a small-scale event in north Kolkata.
Zareen Khan had also filed a case against the organizers of the show at a local court, but after the investigation, a charge sheet was filed against her and her manager.
The actor's manager appeared before court and sought bail, but she neither asked for bail nor appeared before the court.
The court issued an arrest warrant against the artist after she repeatedly failed to appear before the court.
Zareen Khan said that she is unaware of the arrest warrant and is checking with her lawyer.
