The National Logistics Corporation (NLC) has completed a two-day ice hockey competition in Phander, Gilgit-Baltistan, demonstrating the region's passion for winter sports.
The Ghizar Ibex team won the men's category, taking the Ice Hockey Trophy with a 2-0 victory over Phander Ibex.
Meanwhile, in the women's division, Phander Ibex defeated Yaseen Janbaz 1-0.
In a determined effort to promote traditional sports, the NLC, in partnership with local organizations, organized the third annual winter sports festival in Phander Valley.
The festivities began with a spectacular ceremony that included traditional Gilgit dances.
The event, co-organized by the Ghizer Sports Network, the Agha Khan Rural Support Program, and the Local Council, drew a large audience of spectators from across Gilgit-Baltistan and beyond, all eager to participate in the thrilling competitions.
The active participation of women was particularly significant, highlighting the tournament's inclusive nature.
The NLC's involvement demonstrates its dedication to regional development, as several efforts in Gilgit-Baltistan are underway to promote the area's socioeconomic progress.
