Former Sindh CM and Pakistan People's Party (PPP) leader, Qaim Ali Shah, hailed the victory of Murad Ali Shah as a triumph for democracy during a provincial assembly meeting.
He extended his congratulations to Murad Ali Shah, emphasizing that Karachi’s prosperity is inclusive and vowed to continue serving the people.
Addressing the assembly, he lauded the democratic practices within the PPP, highlighting Bilawal Bhutto’s meticulous approach in candidate selection, which involved seeking the opinion of the people.
He questioned the opposition's contribution beyond criticism and underscored PPP's commitment to serving the electorate.
Reflecting on Sindh's progress, the PPP leader defended the party's performance, pointing to infrastructure development and initiatives like the Thar coal project aimed at addressing the energy crisis. He stressed the need for continued efforts to further enhance the province's development.
Despite the serious discourse, laughter resonated from PPP members during the former Sindh CM’s speech, reflecting a lighter atmosphere in the assembly.
Earlier, Murad Ali Shah secured his third consecutive term as Chief Minister of Sindh with a resounding 2-thirds majority.
He garnered 112 votes, while MQM's candidate, Ali Soharri, received 36 votes in the election, which saw participation from 148 assembly members. Notably, 9 PTI-supported candidates and 1 Jamaat-e-Islami nominee abstained from the voting process.
