In a surprising turn of events, Pakistan's leading car manufacturer, Lucky Motors, has significantly reduced the price of its popular Kia Sportage model.
This move comes after the company had raised prices earlier in 2024, sparking criticism from consumers.
The price cut for the Kia Sportage varies depending on the variant. The base model, Sportage Alpha, has seen a reduction of Rs 250,000, bringing its new price down to Rs 7.3 million.
The FWD, AWD, and Limited Edition variants have received an even steeper discount of Rs 300,000, with their new prices being Rs 7.74 million, Rs 8.47 million, and Rs 9 million respectively.
This price reduction comes after Lucky Motors was the only car manufacturer in Pakistan to raise vehicle prices in 2024. Notably, the price of the Sportage Alpha itself had been increased by Rs 250,000 earlier this year.
While the price reduction is likely welcomed by potential buyers, it remains unclear what prompted this sudden change from Lucky Motors. The company has not yet released any official statement regarding the reason behind the price adjustments.
The prices of other Lucky Motors models, including the Picanto and Stonic, remain unchanged. Picanto MT and AT variants stay at Rs 3.6 million and Rs 3.85 million respectively, while the Stonic EX Plus retains its price of Rs 6.28 million.
