Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) Chairman Mahmood Khan Achakzai said on Saturday that it was the first time in the country’s history that the vote was not purchased in the presidential elections.
Speaking to media in Islamabad, Achakzai said: “Maulana Fazlur Rehman should had cast his vote for us.”
Achakzai said: "It would have been better if JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman had voted for us."
“Akhtar Mengal was about to leave for Dubai, but he extended his stay in the country to cast a vote in the presidential elections,” said the presidential candidate.
Achakzai underscored the importance of consensus, saying, “Our allies have voted for us, as now is the time to have consensus.”
He questioned: “Why are we approaching the court in line with parliamentary affairs?”
“It would have been better if the presidential elections were held with consensus,” he said.
Achakzai maintained: “I have no idea what made Dr Malik not cast a vote, as he was willing to vote,”
Expressing his thoughts about the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Achakzai said: “The PTI founder’s confidants voted for me. I would like to express my gratitude to the PTI for extending support to me.”
He extended his congratulations to PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari on becoming the country’s president for the 14th time.
