Islamabad United's Naseem Shah has been penalised for breaching the Code of Conduct during a recent HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9 encounter against Multan Sultans at the Pindi Cricket Stadium.
The fiery incident unfolded when Naseem, in a moment of frustration, kicked the stumps following the conclusion of Multan Sultans' innings.
This transgression led to Naseem Shah being fined 10 percent of his match fee, in accordance with Article 2.2 of the HBL PSL's Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which pertains to the misuse of cricket equipment or ground apparatus.
The swift resolution saw Naseem Shah accepting the charge and proposed sanctions without necessitating a formal hearing, under the oversight of match referee Roshan Mahanama.
The disciplinary action was initiated by on-field umpires Ruchira Palliyaguruge and Muhammad Asif, marking a clear demonstration of the league's commitment to upholding the integrity and sportsmanship values.
In a separate development during the same fixture, Multan Sultans faced their own setback as they were found guilty of maintaining a slow over-rate. Match referee Roshan Mahanama deemed Sultans to be one over short of their target, considering all relevant time allowances.
As per Article 2.22 of the HBL PSL Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, each Multan Sultans player incurred a 10 percent fine on their match fee, reinforcing the league's stance on maintaining the pace and spirit of the game.
