The Sindh government, in collaboration with the Oxford Pakistan Programme (OPP), has announced the establishment of six prestigious graduate scholarships at Oxford University for students from Sindh.
The scholarships, named in honour of former prime ministers Benazir Bhutto and Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, will provide financial assistance to outstanding students from the province to pursue graduate degrees at Oxford’s Lady Margaret Hall.
The announcement was made in the presence of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Sindh Chief Minister during an event at Oxford University.
Scholarship details
Under the initiative, the OPP will provide:
- Three scholarships under the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Scholarship exclusively for women.
- Three scholarships under the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Scholarship for general students.
These scholarships will be part of OPP’s annual graduate scholarship program, which last year awarded financial aid to two students from Sindh and one from Balochistan.
Empowering Sindh’s students
The program aims to empower students from Sindh by giving them access to one of the world’s most prestigious academic institutions. It also aligns with PPP’s vision of advancing educational opportunities for youth and bridging the gap between international academia and Pakistani students.
