Hearing a case related to Bahria Town and Revenue Employees Society in the Supreme Court, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa remarked that the people associated with the case are very powerful; they have bought everything.
Heading the bench, the CJP directed to the telecast the case proceedings live. He remarked that even the media did not publish any news against these powerful people.
“One case has three main characters. Pervez Musharraf, Parvez Elahi and Malik Riaz are the main characters,” CJP Isa remarked, adding that these were the real owners of Pakistan.
The CJP then expressed indignation at the sale of the DHA land in the name of martyrs and told the authorities not to hide behind martyrs.
“Business is being conducted by using the name of martyrs,” Justice Isa asserted.
He further remarked that Bahria Town employees were included in the committee formed by the chief minister on the matter. “The associates of the one with whom the contract is going to be made is sitting on this side as well as on that side,” the CJP said.
He then asked if an advertisement was published for closing the Revenue Co-operative Society. “Was a bid solicited for builders to come forward for this society?” he questioned, remarking that they themselves decided to sign a contract with Bahria Town.
“There was only an order from the chief minister to sign an agreement,” CJP Isa remarked.
This has been going on since 2004, the Bahria Town lawyer told the court.
The CJP commented that Bahria Town has already been selected, while the formalities were completed later.
“Are you ready for an out-of-court settlement with them?” the top judge asked the victims.
The lawyer for the victims argued that they were given plots in far-off areas instead of the fixed spots. They said if they were given the plots then they were ready to enter into a contract.
