The Lahore High Court has allowed former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Usman Dar to perform Umrah, albeit under certain conditions.
The decision came in response to a petition filed by Dar, seeking the removal of his name from the Prohibited National Identification List (PNIL).
During the hearing on the application to remove Dar's name from the PNIL list, the Lahore High Court issued the decision to grant him conditional permission to perform Umrah. The court directed Dar to furnish surety bonds to the interior secretary as a guarantee for compliance with the conditions set forth.
Expressing his client's intention to undertake the religious pilgrimage, the counsel emphasized the importance of the matter before the court.

However, Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza questioned Dar's failure to submit security to the interior secretary, underscoring the need for compliance with legal procedures.
In October last year, Dar dealt a blow to former prime minister Imran Khan by announcing quitting the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and politics. In an interview to a private TV channel, Usman Dar said, “Imran Khan presided over a meeting where the planning and implementation of the events of May 9 took place, and he endorsed an anti-state narrative.”
Dar directly blamed Imran Khan for the current situation the PTI was in. He further said, “The purpose of May 9 events was to pressurise the army chief to resign," adding that Imran Khan could have been receiving instructions from someone within the armed forces.
