The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) issued the press release without talking to pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi.
Sources divulged on Sunday that Shaheen was taking rest after Iftar, when the PCB issued the press release, citing the former.
According to sources, Shaheen was distraught with the attitude of the PCB. It is expected that Shaheen Shah Afridi is likely to react to the PCB's press release.
Shaheen Shah Afridi was not pleased with the attitude of the selection committee. The selection committee had not replied to Shaheen's queries.
Earlier, the PCB had released a press release in line with Shaheen Shah Afridi.
The PCB quoted Shaheen as saying, “It was an absolute honour to captain the Pakistan National Cricket Team. I will always cherish the memories and the opportunity. As a team player, it is my duty to back our captain, Babar Azam.".
"I have played under his captaincy and have nothing but respect for him. I will try to help him on and off the field. We are all one. Our aim is the same, to help Pakistan become the best team in the world,” added the press release.
